In the early 2000s, Mr. Sylvain Angers, President and founder of Le Petit Navire, acquired two old lifeboats with a view to restoring them.
Initially, the layout of the boats was planned for personal purposes, to enjoy with loved ones.
GROWING INTO A BUSINESS
2003 ELECTRIC PIONEERING
In 2003, the project grew; it was now possible to charter Le Petit Navire I for private events.
One thing leading to another, Mr. Angers offered guided tours on the Lachine Canal, making the boat a pioneer in Canadian tourist transport on electric boats.
THE VIEUX-PORT CRUISE
2004, THE PETIT NAVIRE II
In 2004, the Vieux-Port cruise saw the light of day, followed by the Petit Navire II in 2005, built from the second lifeboat recovered.
FROM 2012 AND ONWARD
2012 THE METAMORPHOSIS
In 2012, Le Petit Navire I underwent a major metamorphosis, increasing its maximum capacity from sixteen to forty passengers.
Eighteen years later, the company is well established among the various activities of the Old Port of Montreal.”
Le Petit Navire is based on simplicity, conviviality and authenticity. We want to convey these values to our customers, our partners, but also within the company. It is essential for us to show a frank image in order to offer a sincere and unique product.
Thinking of driving? Just a heads-up: weekend traffic in the Old Port is heavy. Expect slow crawls, pricey parking, and a healthy dose of honking. We recommend walking, biking, or using the public transport.
